QC Lab Technician

FrieslandCampina | Darlington, WI

Pay: $21.71 - $27.13/hour
Status: Full-Time, Hourly | Onsite

Quality Starts With the Details

We're looking for a QC Lab Technician to support our Quality and Production teams in Darlington.

This is a hands-on lab role where you'll collect and test samples throughout the manufacturing process, interpret your results, and help make sure our products meet quality and food safety standards.

If you're someone who pays attention to the little things, can follow a specific process without cutting corners, and isn't afraid to speak up when something doesn't look right, you'll probably fit right in.

Job Description:

What You'll Do

  • Collect and test raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Perform routine chemical, physical, and microbiological testing, including pH, moisture, protein, fat, and solids.
  • Interpret test results and recognize trends, deviations, and out-of-spec conditions.
  • Alert Quality, Operations, and plant leadership when results don't meet specification or something doesn't look right.
  • Follow established SOPs, testing methods, GMPs, and food safety procedures.
  • Accurately document results and maintain clear, traceable laboratory records.
  • Complete routine calibration and verification of lab equipment.
  • Properly handle, label, store, and organize samples.
  • Help troubleshoot basic testing or equipment issues.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of laboratory, Quality Control, food/dairy manufacturing, or related experience.
  • Strong attention to detail that allows you to notice when a number, sample, or result doesn't look quite right.
  • Comfortable following specific SOPs and step-by-step testing procedures.
  • Able to interpret test results, not simply run the test and record the number.
  • Comfortable speaking up and alerting the appropriate team when something is out of spec.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple samples, tests, and priorities without losing the details.
  • Comfortable asking questions when you're unsure rather than guessing.
  • Experience with dairy, food manufacturing, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, or similar quality systems is a plus.
  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or a related field is preferred.

This job description describes the general responsibilities of the position and is not intended to cover every duty. Responsibilities may change based on operational and business needs.
