Job Description Header: 

Corporate Affairs plays a strategic role of defending the organization from shocks and multiple taxation which is a major bane to ease of doing business in Nigeria

Position Complexity:

  • Corporate Affairs department must be credible and networked with Nigerian and regulatory bodies (local and global), Regulatory, Food & Health framework- Government Ministries of Food, Health, Customs and Immigrations and federal agency responsible for compliance, approval and enforcement issues.
  • Maintain effective external contacts of Government ministries, departments and agencies, Consumer and Trade NGOs
  • Maintain Business Intelligence function in the Company, including media monitoring
  • Project strong and consistent corporate image, and compelling narratives to external publics
  • Responsibility for Corporate and Public affairs (major support for all regulatory matters as a key Influencer)

 

Job Description: 

 

  1. Annual Plan

Develop annual plan for Public Affairs and Communication in alignment with regional and global objectives and manage annual budget

 

  1. Government Relations

Develops strategies to interface with The Government

Directs the organization's policies and objectives involving local, state, and federal government affairs.

Leads analysis of proposed legislative actions and determines the potential impact on the organization.

Monitors legislative and regulatory activities and develops company positions.

Maintain an effective lobby network that includes business partners, academics, government

officials and NGO’s to the benefit of the OpCo.

Maintain contacts with Government authorities, relevant NGOs & organizations, companies,

research bodies and (international) institutions, resulting in up-to-date knowledge on (international) trends and developments on Corporate Affairs, regulatory, food and health issues, and an optimal

promotion of the company’s interests.

Enhances the organization's image among authorities through relationship building, lobbying and networking with the Federal and State government, National assembly, key Policy makers and

Coordinate all PA issues and representation towards Government bodies, scientific

organizations, industry/trade/consumer organizations and NGOs, and universities in order to further the Company’s interests.

Key opinion leaders relevant to FCWAMCO operations.

 

  1. Develops strategies to interface with The Government (Stakeholder Engagement)

Directs the organization's policies and objectives involving local, state, and federal government affairs. Leads analysis of proposed legislative actions and determines the potential impact on the organization.

Monitors legislative and regulatory activities and develops company positions.

Enhances the organization's image among authorities through relationship building, lobbying and

networking with the Federal and State government, National assembly, key Policy makers and

Key opinion leaders relevant to FCWAMCO operations.

Provide strategic information/campaigns to promote key business initiatives, where relevant, in the           context of the government

Build an effective team that works collaboratively towards achieving organizational goals and objectives

Support the development of and implementation of stakeholder management strategies

 

 

  1. Public Affairs

Manages activities targeted at fostering solid relationship with all stakeholders including the Media relevant to FCWAMCO. Manage crises and issues in close cooperation with regional/global Public Affairs team.

 

  1. Develop and manage comprehensive communication strategy for both internal and external stakeholders

Drive strategic engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders

 

 

  1. Corporate Partnerships

Establish and Manage partnerships that deliver on Company’s ambition and purpose

Collaborate with relevant associations to profile FrieslandCampina WAMCO

 

  1. Protocol and Liaison

Oversee protocol and Liaison unit

           Manage and provide support for Business Travel Management and cost savings

 

  1. DDP Support “license to operate”

            Add value to the corporate business through efficient drive for DDP

            Contribute to the development and advocacy of Dairy Development business

            Improve social engagement with external stakeholders

          

 

  1. Issues and Crisis management

Manage crisis communication and issues including regional offices

Ensure the business is prepared in terms of procedure for crisis communication

Provide strategic counsel on issues management

 

  1. Performance Management

Responsible for the leadership, coaching, and direction for direct reports, as well as others on working groups or team projects. Ensure each team member has an active development plan, which is reviewed on a periodic basis. 

 

  1. Feedback/Reporting:

Provide timely reports to management on all Public Affairs issues , environmental monitoring, intelligence etc.

Responsible for measuring and tracking sustainable business programs.
